The Derby will take place June 7 at the San Diego County Fair in Del Mar.

Demolition Derby Imperial Beach Firefighters Association is the leading fundraiser to date for a "Demolition Derby" to benefit the San Diego County Burn Institute. The Derby will take place June 7, opening day for the San Diego County Fair at 2 p.m. The Demolition Derby is a free event with admission to the fair.

Nearly $3,000 has been collected in donations from local Imperial Beach businesses and residents. A late model Ford Crown Victoria was donated by Pick Your Part in Chula Vista, and the vehicle is currently be decorated at the rear of the fire station by local artist Howard Woodward, who is also using the vehicle to teach art to children from the "Art Kids of San Diego County."

Imperial Beach firefighter Ehren Kahle reposts that "we are not seeking any monies from individuals for this event, however reserve firefighter will be on hand at the race for a boot drive to raise additional monies to benefit burn injured children, and further burn research/treatment."

Congratulations to Imperial Beach Firefighters and local supporters for making this fun event a fundraising reality. See you all at the San Diego County Fair on June 7!
