The San Diego County Sheriff's Department requested that Central Elementary School go into lockdown Wednesday afternoon as the San Diego County Fugitive Task Force searched the area for a homicide suspect, said Sgt. William Amavista.
The task force arrested a homicide suspect in Imperial Beach last October.
Calls to the task force for comment Thursday were not returned.
"We were instructed to lockdown by the sheriff's office for precautionary measures," said attendance secretary Nancy Almas. "It was nothing in the school but something near the area."
