A preliminary hearing was postponed Tuesday to March 26 for a gang member accused of fatally stabbing a man in Chula Vista last year.
When a preliminary hearing is held, a judge will decide whether there's enough evidence to order Angel Michael Nunez to stand trial.
Nunez, 21, is charged with murder in the September death of 22-year-old Chula Vista resident Juan Navarro, who was stabbed multiple times near the 1600 block of Hilltop Drive.
The victim was with a companion around 6 p.m. Sept. 25 when the defendant pulled up with several others in a white vehicle and got out to attack Navarro, Chula Vista police said. The motive was unclear.
Nunez was arrested in Imperial Beach Oct. 1 by members of the San Diego Regional Fugitive Task Force. Authorities have not said what led them to identify Nunez as a suspect.
The defendant has been held without bail at the George Bailey Detention Facility since his arrest.
