Firefighters Douse Small Brush Fire in Tijuana River Valley

Helicopter drops aid in quickly putting out the blaze near the border.

With the aid of a helicopter to make water drops, San Diego firefighters were able to extinguish a canyon brush fire that broke out early Thursday evening near the border with Mexico.

The small blaze in the canyon near the intersection of Hollister Street and Monument Road did not threaten homes, but the location near a riverbed made it difficult for firefighters to gain access to the area.
