85-Year-Old Man Goes Missing Near Imperial Beach

An 85-year-old man who suffers from a condition that causes memory loss went missing today while en route from his Palm City home to his son's residence in National City, police said.

Frank Silva Brown was last seen about 10:30 a.m. at his residence at 842 Grissom St., according to the San Diego Police Department.

He left in a white 1997 Chrysler Town and Country minivan with the California license plate FUNCITY, police officials said. He was headed to 1504 National City Blvd.

Police officials said Brown had disappeared before and stayed gone for about five hours before he found his way home.

Brown was being treated for a memory loss condition, possibly Alzheimer's disease, authorities said.

He is unable to walk very far from his vehicle without a cane or a walker, however he left both at home, police officials said. He also left behind a cell phone.

Brown is white, with gray hair and brown eyes. He is 5 feet 9, 230 pounds and was wearing a gray shirt with blue sleeves and gray sweat pants.

Anyone with information on Brown's whereabouts was asked to call police at (619) 531-2000.
