Who Is IB’s Person of the Year?

Why let 'Time' have all the fun? This poll is in two parts: Nominate your Person of the Year and we’ll have a runoff next month.

On Dec. 14, Time magazine will announce its Person of the Year—which isn’t guaranteed to be an actual man or woman. But in the run-up, the magazine has invited votes on 40 candidates, including Barack Obama, Gabby Douglas and Kim Jong Un. Other options include The Mars Rover and the Higgs Boson Particle. But who cares about the same-old same-old? Who is Imperial Beach’s Person of the Year—the man or woman who, in Timespeak, “most influenced the news this year for better or worse”? We won’t preselect your picks. But the ones most often mentioned in the comments (and tell us why) will have a runoff in a month.

they could rename the block of street that's in front of the library....i think it's called '8th st.' now, but it's only a block long so it could easily be changed with little confusion..

And as to man of the year there isn't one, It for me was a young girl that exemplified the Spirt of the Olympic's on the stage watched by the whole world overcoming adversitys that we can't even imagine to become an Olympic Champion !

Maybe we should have two: Tyrone Woods, definitely - and Serge Dedina, as the outstanding representative of WiLDCOAST, doing so much to keep our coastlines here and in Mexico safe from depredation and improving.

Tyrone Wood's EARNED it. Oh come on, suggesting Serge Dedina is about the same as giving Obama the Nobel Peace Prize before he bacame president. Offensive. Not everyone shares you love for Serge; who has a long was to go to get to the level of Mr. Wood's contributions.
