What Should Be at 9th and Palm?

How about a decent grocery store, a Target, and a Starbucks?  Not only would they serve IB, but also all of Coronado as well.  Do any of our city planners have vision?  Or do we have any actual City Planners...

Imperial Beach needs a new Grocery Store, Wallys is old and has had many health related issues with food in the past.

The grocery store that people could afford is gone to San Diego now. Somehow city officials and developers are ignoring the census demographics. Big box stores will have a difficult time because most folks live under the poverty line or are military and shop at the exchange. Coronado folks might shop here...but don't count on it. No matter what they put there...the money that's been wasted aquiring the property and the give-away for next to nothing makes it almost imposible that any project can pencil out to benefit the taxpayers who paid for this Fiasco. Remember also that City Council/ RDA Successor agency tried to sell that property for $1. only! That didn't fly with the state...but the sale that was brokered with Greg Wade and Toni Atkins with the state was still a $15+ million dollar give-away to a favored developer. It's amazing that Mayor Janney and other council members call this a "BIG VICTORY". The previous owner Sam Dimenstien says that he offered to remodel the former Miracle Shopping Center but the city said NO.... Dimenstien got the last laugh...He walked away with Millions also and now doesn't get harrassed by the code compliance officer who was trying to create a paper trail of blight to justify eminent domain and demolition. You know this was planned all along and the other parcels assembled by the former RDA are still being prepared for development. My biggest question is...IF THE RDA was made illegal....how can they continue to move ahead with all the projects that were being planned by the now defunct RDA....and if they no longer have the tax incriment to do it with....don't they have to take more money from the general fund? And what about the debt from the RDA bonds and the DEBT SERVICE...If this looming debt is a victory...then you should vote for Jim Janney in the fall. If it was a stupid fiasco wasting your tax dollars.....GET RID OF HIM AS MAYOR.

People who aren't military now drive across the bridge all the way to Mission Valley to the Trader Joe's there. IB is missing the boat by not bringing a high-quality grocery store here. Where is the vision?

Trader Joe said no 2 years ago and still has no interest in IB
