Question to the editor?

Why is one article in 3 places on the Patch homepage?

I guess the public needs to assist the editors in editing the page. (Hmmmm)

How do u reach staff? I have an idea/request I would like to propose and the sooner the better to make this change!

Could use a lot less of their trending stories about having sex with cows and running around your back yard naked. Is this the future of Patch ...reading about the naked guy in his yard in Illinois. Frankly we'd rather see less content like this and more local news and discussion of local events. Since our new editor doesn't seem to get south of the 8 Freeway very often, it's unlikely that staff will provide much more news than you can get yourself by Google. So if you go to a public meeting or event or have some interesting news or observations...you have to post it because we have an absentee editor who's slamming 30 websites full of the same "trending & crappy content". You folks need to post the real news....or there won't be much real news on the Patch...at least real local news that's not already on the wire service or Google. This is a low budget operation that Patch is running right now. I'm starting to think maybe the San Diego Reader should become Imperial Beach's adjudicated Newspaper. It actually gets delivered and distributed weekly. The neighborhood section could rival the Patch without too much more effort.

Well okay then, tell us how u really feel ;) Actually all I was proposing is the possibility of having individual in boxes with our "accounts". Certain comments could go directly to one person discreetly, if need be, and not a multitude of uninvolved parties. I've seen many a person belittled and humiliated constituting assault and defamation of character. Opinions are expected and facts are necessary, but the bullying and verbal abuse of those different than us really needs to stop.

Lisa....I am not the editor................yet. I used to edit SaveIB.com which was hacked out of existence last April. I have been a political watchdog and critic of previous councils and there mirrored agencies for many years. The bullying has actually decreased...not that it's ended entirely...but some of the folks who were doing the bullying were important people using fake screen names. They have been put on notice/ called out/ and advised not to do so in their official capacity. That's not to say that there are not people who won't ridicule you. Stand up to them. Report their hateful comments as "inappropriate". I think that everyone who is on Patch should have to use their real names or there should be a list of email address's for people who post. I think private communication is good too! We managed to determine who some of the former bullies were....and their still around...but holding back their comments for now because of some court cases involving cyber-bullying. So who's being a bully to people for trying to exercise their constitutional rights of freedom of speech and freedom of the press?

Nice to meet you Ed! You can assure I am who I portray. I live close to the beautiful pier and would be happy to meet anyone for coffee or tea anytime :) I pretty much make it my business to bring God's Goodness, kindness and Love, especially to those overlooked or prayed upon. Yes, I know those kind who assault will always be around, but it takes more courage to step into the ring face to face and one on one than behind a mask and with gang type mentality. You are right about that. I myself don't name names as to not mirror the very behavior I despise btw, but I do cringe when I see inappropriate name calling and remarks that skip over the facts and go straight to "feelings", especially when they make someone look foolish. Who "I" am is one who works for a Higher Power, stands in the gap for the underdog, and defends a victim when no one else will. Just the momma/grama bear in me in full effect most days, but available to anyone who misplaced their voice temporarily ;) I know from experience you might say. I am happy to be here and happy to see freedoms exercised within diplomatic, tactful bounds, and as for the rest, love DOES cover a multitude of sins. And I have lots of experience in needing cover myself ;) I look forward to joining you in helping IB become a better place t

Lisa, Before the last "upgrade" (about 6-8 months before Khari got fired :( ) you could message someone. And you could have hard returns. ______________Very "old school" AOL (America off line)

Also, if you are on FB, I am easily found there. I guess I am the only "Erika lowery" out there with that spelling. :)

So nice to meet you as well Erika! I don't have a FB, but I check the news on here a few times a day. Btw, I'm not understanding "hard return", what do you mean by that? I DO learn alot of new things everyday :). Unfortunately, only some things become better with progress. I guess instead of people "venting" to each other via private inbox, we'll just have to try and say nice things or nothing like grandmother said. I remind myself of that everyday as well.Um yeah...the loud, N.Y.,Italian, woman, that I am forgets my manners sometimes too :/
Erika Lowery February 28, 2014 at 02:29 PM
Try German/Russian mixed with Southern/Irish. I have some loud strong opinions too. Hard returns - (((hoping it worked, it did earlier today))) are when you hit the "enter" key and it goes to the next line. "Return" is just a typewriter term.
lisa shoshannah shaw February 28, 2014 at 02:43 PM
Lol on the mix u got going! It's nice to relate and lol on the return thing...I remember that! I'm so used to today's abbreviations and slang I was sure there was a new meaning!
