POND  20 could be put to use to take advantage of a mobile population of seniors that travel in RV's.  Don't you think that "SNOWBIRDS" would be flocking to a bayside view mobile home/RV park for the winter season....or the summer.  Upscale RV parks have very handsome returns for the space almost as lucrative as hotels....with very minimal investment for power, water and sewage. Pond 20 could be filled and even terraced to provide exellent bayfront views to folks who want to escape the snow and sub zero temperatures back east.  We sometimes forget how good we have it.  RV owners usually have significant disposable income and the park in Chula Vista is way too small for the potential tourists that would come....if given the opportunity.

If better purposes are found for the property later, the minimal infrastructure could be removed or abandoned quite easily. Any income is better than no income....So how much is it generating in revenue or TOT now?

Good idea!

Not sure what is funnier --- you writing this drivel or Khari giving you space to print it ...
Ed Kravitz January 27, 2014 at 09:49 PM
You sure have some sour grapes Jon. I'm sure your ideas are much better. Let's hear some instead of trying to trash other writers or the editor. If you have better....Lets hear it...and Khari does not censor as this is a place for public posting and exchange of ideas. Try to be more constructive and do a little less agressive attacking. Do you know what DRIVEL is ? Oh please don't let the public start thinking or considering options Jon. That's Governement's job I suppose?

Dear Ed: I can see the benefit that the RV Park could require minimal infrastructure and not be permanent. However, the RV Park would have the same potential problem as the once proposed boat marina in the sloughs (early 70s), namely, because IB is the end-of-the line, we would risk ending up with a large number of "live aboards". In the end, you would be spending more money policing the illegal drug activities than we would earn in revenue. For once, I really believe the people of the IB Area need to aim high, and settle for nothing less than world-class economic development for Pond 20. Please see www.PCHdinnershow.com, where the aerial rendering shows a large "Multi-use Area" that could be used for limited RV hookup.
