The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better. Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Little Brothers/Sisters meet 2 to 4 times a month, spending time together, doing things they both enjoy.
BBBS is experiencing a critical need for men to volunteer! More than 70% of children waiting for mentors are boys, but less than 4 out of every 10 new volunteers are men. Here in San Diego, young boys wait an average of 18 months before being matched with a Big Brother. That's too long!
The basic requirements to volunteer are you must be: o At least 18 years of age o Have a valid Social Security number o Have no criminal background o Be available to volunteer at least 4 hours a month for at least 1 year
*Men, and Spanish-speaking women and men are in high demand.*
