Distracted Shoppers Beware! Thief strikes again. Police Seek Assistance in Identifying Suspect
Chula Vista police are searching for the suspected thief in the photo who they say targeted a woman with a baby who put her purse in a shopping-cart before entering the Wal-Mart store at 1360 Eastlake Parkway.
Detectives have security footage from Sunday, May 8th, 2014 of the man following the victim around the store, then grabbed her wallet when she became distracted with her child and immediately exited the store.
Police are saying this guy did it before and this type of crime appears to be a growing trend County-wide, in which organized criminal groups are targeting distracted shoppers in busy retail stores, stealing wallets, cell phones, and other valuables from unsuspecting victims.
The suspect is describe as a Hispanic male, approximately 25 year-old, medium build, clean-shaven and tattoos on his upper right arm. He was driving a dark-colored four-door vehicle with tinted windows and wearing a white t-shirt, light-colored blue jeans, sandals, and a dark baseball cap.
If you can identify the man in the photos, detectives are requesting assistance from public in this case. Contact Det. Scott Schneider at the Chula Vista Police Department at (619) 407-3528 or the CVPD Tip Line at 619-422-TIPS.
