Singer, Artist, Mother of 6 Virginia Morin, 1925-2013

Morin was known to create outfits, sing loudly throughout her home and draw sketches of her six children.

Longtime Imperial Beach resident Virginia May Morin grew up in Minneapolis, MN and died May 5 after a long battle with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases.

She came to IB with her husband Joseph Morin in the early 1960s. A sailor's wife, she spent much time raising their kids on her own.

"An artist at heart, she sketched her family and painted her walls tomato-red decades before it was fashionable. She loved music and sang loudly while hanging laundry outside, much to her children's chagrin," an obituary by her children published May 12 said.
