Richard W. Rankin, Carpenter and Realtor, Dies at 66

The Mar Vista High grad moved to Carlsbad more than two decades ago.

Richard W. Rankin, a carpenter and realtor with long-time Imperial Beach ties, has died, according to Legacy.com. He was 66.

The Carlsbad resident had deep links to the South Bay. Born in Coronado, Rankin attended West View Elementary School, Southwest Jr. High School and graduated from Mar Vista High School in 1964.

He met his wife of 27 years, Rita, and moved to North County, where he sold vacation shares at Tamarack Beach Resort. He and his wife were also well traveled, seeing New York City as well as sites abroad, including Portugal and other parts of Europe.

He died May 20. Services are planned for 2 p.m. July 21 at the Fleet Reserve, 659 Silver Strand Blvd., in IB.
