Born Jan. 18 in Aguascalientes, Mexico, Horacio Aguilar died last week on his 80th birthday.
He was a longtime resident of the Nestor-Imperial Beach area.
"As a young man in Mexico, Horacio became a skilled equestrian, rancher and charro. He was the founder/owner of H.A. Automotive Equipment servicing San Diego and Tijuana," according to an obituary published in U-T San Diego Wednesday.
Aguilar enjoyed spending time with his family, reading about Mexican history and was a member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society at St. Charles Parish on 18th Street.
A viewing and rosary will be held Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. at Little Chapel of the Roses at Glen Abbey Mortuary at 3838 Bonita Road in Bonita.
A requim Mass will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Parish at 947 18th St. in San Diego.
According to the obituary, he is survived by his children Luis, Alma, Maria, John, and daughter-in-law Cherin; three grandchildren, Shawn, Nicholas, and Jacob, as well as extended family in Mexico.
