On Saturday, thousands of motorist traveling east on Palm Avenue were offered a free compassionate drive-thru service from more than a dozen members of Latter Rain Missions & Training Center, a Christian church located on Palm Avenue.
For several hours, from the corner of Florence and Palm, church members greeted every motorist, their passengers, bicyclists, and pedestrians with an offer to 'drive-thru' the church's new monthly Drive-Thru Prayer Service.
Several eager church members excitedly waived bright colorful handwritten signs reading; "NEED TO PRAY?" and "DRIVE-THRU OPEN", inviting passersby to pray with them.
Imagine that, a Prayer Drive-Thru.
How convenient is that?
I blogged about more Latter Rain compassion , when around 30 church members fanned out to help IB look beautiful and welcoming to the thousands of guests expected to attend the city's final sandcastle competition.
In the video interview I posted to this blog of the drive-thru, members of the church said that the church provides free food to the public EVERY Thursday from 6-7 a.m. on Florence Street south of Palm Avenue next to the church. And, they will be providing free food this Sunday during an outside service at Veterans Park starting at 10 a.m.
If you're looking for a church to visit in IB, I encourage you to put this one at the top of your list. Especially if it's a Thursday, or a Saturday, and you could use some compassionate free food, or drive-thru prayer!
In the interest of mental balance, I'll conclude with:
Compassion is not religious business, it is human business,
it is not luxury, it is essential for our own peace and mental stability,
it is essential for human survival.
