Do You Believe Politicians Who Can't Back Up Their Claims?

Losing a battle, but winning the war. Safe access to medical marijuana on Palm Avenue, soon?

Last November over 57% of voters in Imperial Beach accepted as truth - a less than transparant - campaign of misinformation, fear and intemidation by rejecting Proposition S - a fully transparant - local citizen's ballot initiative clearly written to provide local safe access to medical marijuana "for qualified patients only".

So, what if local politicians only used the words they could back up? What would happen if a local politician whose title is 'The Honorable', were to tell the truth - the whole truth - and nothing but the truth about local safe access to medical marijuana "for qualified patients only"?

Well, I'm very pleased to annouce that - we will soon see!

Two nights ago, at our monthly meeting of the San Diego Chapter of Americans for Safe Access, we were honored to hear truth from the newly elected mayor of San Diego, the honorable Bob Filner. For over thirty-five minutes, the former congressmen and mayor of the 2nd largest city in the State - 8th largest in the nation, discussed supporting local safe access - like no other sitting mayor ever has!

So far, San Diego CityBeat's Dave Maass is the only reporter to release a story so far, the mayor had so much to say that the media appears to have no idea where to begin reporting on his statements - or even where to begin.

In part, San Diego's new mayor promised;

To call for and attend 'mass demonstrations' against Bonnie Dumanis' continuing "persecution" of medical marijuana patients who provide safe access in San Diego.

To testify in court for "persecuted" medical marijuana patients.

To get an ordinance drawn up and to the council - in a few weeks - and that he believes he has a five-vote majority lined up.

To direct City Attorney Jan Goldsmith to stop going after medical-marijuana collectives.

To lobby the U.S. Department of Justice and the White House to address the issue under federal law.
