Do You Believe Politicians Who Can't Back Up Their Claims?

Losing a battle, but winning the war. Safe access to medical marijuana on Palm Avenue, soon?

Last November over 57% of voters in Imperial Beach accepted as truth - a less than transparant - campaign of misinformation, fear and intemidation by rejecting Proposition S - a fully transparant - local citizen's ballot initiative clearly written to provide local safe access to medical marijuana "for qualified patients only".

So, what if local politicians only used the words they could back up? What would happen if a local politician whose title is 'The Honorable', were to tell the truth - the whole truth - and nothing but the truth about local safe access to medical marijuana "for qualified patients only"?

Well, I'm very pleased to annouce that - we will soon see!

Two nights ago, at our monthly meeting of the San Diego Chapter of Americans for Safe Access, we were honored to hear truth from the newly elected mayor of San Diego, the honorable Bob Filner. For over thirty-five minutes, the former congressmen and mayor of the 2nd largest city in the State - 8th largest in the nation, discussed supporting local safe access - like no other sitting mayor ever has!

So far, San Diego CityBeat's Dave Maass is the only reporter to release a story so far, the mayor had so much to say that the media appears to have no idea where to begin reporting on his statements - or even where to begin.

In part, San Diego's new mayor promised;

To call for and attend 'mass demonstrations' against Bonnie Dumanis' continuing "persecution" of medical marijuana patients who provide safe access in San Diego.

To testify in court for "persecuted" medical marijuana patients.

To get an ordinance drawn up and to the council - in a few weeks - and that he believes he has a five-vote majority lined up.

To direct City Attorney Jan Goldsmith to stop going after medical-marijuana collectives.

To lobby the U.S. Department of Justice and the White House to address the issue under federal law.

There's more, much more... watch the video

and what 'bull' is that mark? that a plant is a dangerous narcotic that should be illegal ? the city is canceling the fireworks for lack of money...no tax revenue ....no commerce... why doesn't all of the people that voted no on prop s step to the plate now and pay for the fireworks themselves....
Marcus Boyd January 10, 2013 at 09:20 PM
'Bull', so you claim, but can you back it up? So far, you have offered as much as our local politicians, who you say you don't trust... Listen to today's KPBS Midday Edition, and learn the truth - and stop the reefer madness.

UPDATE: See the attached letters from the city attorney and mayors office! http://kpbs.media.clients.ellingtoncms.com/news/documents/2013/01/10/filnerletter.pdf http://kpbs.media.clients.ellingtoncms.com/news/documents/2013/01/10/Goldsmithletter.pdf Listen to today's Midday Edition on KPBS http://www.kpbs.org/news/2013/jan/10/mayor-filner-re-opens-door-medical-marijuana-colle/

Never mind. (Geez... some people can't see the forest for all the trees.)
Marcus Boyd January 10, 2013 at 10:38 PM
Thanks for suggestions, actually, it sounds like we could come to some 'regulations', however... The 'persecuted' medical marijuana patient that Bob Filner has promised to testify for, was the target of a Imperial Beach sheriff's sting on collective delivery drivers, after the election! Your constant spreading of non-factual reefer madness - such as the average age and condition of patients - is the direct cause of the persecution of legitimate patients, by sheriffs in Imperial Beach. Drop that in your TEA Party and drink it!

UPDATE: Mayor Filner orders code enforcement against medical marijuana collectives to end http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2013/jan/10/filner-stops-prosecution-medical-marijuana/ Two collectives are sitting on Palm Avenue, shuttered, but able to resume safe access operations within hours!

Will some one tell me what the hell is wrong with this post ? Marcus, I think it is a good thing that Filner is doing, But he isn't our mayor, Who doesnt want store fronts in I.B. So what if Janney wants our sheriff to enforce a hard line here in I.B. The fact that we have the two stores up on Palm I can't see changing things here in I.B. at all in fact our council and mayor can point to them and say is 4 blocks that much of an impediment if those of us who for valid medical reasons use Marijuana ? For some unfathomable reason this was deleted, Will someone at patch have the courtesy to e-mail me with the reason, I see vulgarity and personal attacks everyday and then a reasoned post such as this is deleted Why ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

All we wanted was local safe access to medical marijuana for local qualified patients - and the San Diego part of Palm Avenue will do just fine, they all consider and even advertise themselves as being in Imperial Beach anyway. As far as our 'honorable' mayor, he could learn a thing or two about honor - and telling truths to the citizens he is tasked to represent. Our mayor did not backup the claims he made during his hate-filled campaign against Prop S? He couldn't and won't because he can't, which is the point of this post. He and Jim King were spreading the same claims (and fear) that San Diego's city attorney was spreading. Claims they are unable to backup with facts.... Now that dispensaries will soon re-open on Palm Avenue, just yards from Imperial Beach, they will AGAIN prove to to voters all that our 'honorable' politicians were not honorable regarding this compassion issue. Then, maybe voters will replace them with honorable ones.

i know i've got the big brain and the high comprehension skills, but i really don't think this is rocket science...it's the basis of a successful capitalistic country ....let me explain it to your simple mind one more time... in a capitalist country we establish laws and regulations based on their harm to self and society.. no excuses, no political spins, no 'big thoughts' to distract from the basic premise... you became adults, but you never learned to think...and now it's ruining our state and country with 40 years of stupid...
Libi Uremovic January 11, 2013 at 03:06 AM
at least our state can collect some tax revenue - even if ib shuts itself out...and our cali farmers, retailers, and consumers can prosper... when this is all over i'm going to go back and force reparation payments to our cali farmers and retailers that have lost billions of dollars because they've been wrongly persecuted and denied their rights to prosper in a capitalist society... everyone is proud of their poor choices ...until they have to pay for them....
Libi Uremovic January 11, 2013 at 03:35 AM
if mark or anyone else is still 'confused' on how laws & regulations are correctly utilized in a capitalists country or the difference between a plant and a drug i will meet them in person ... and anyone that's ever met me will attest that 15 minutes of me in their face is all it will take to eliminate the 'confusion' in their brain... this one issue alone costs the state of cali billions of dollars every year....millions lost in tax revenue and millions more wasted on law/courts/prisons.... and it causes no harm to self or society... a person with average intelligence should be able to analyze the results of the last 40 years and realize that keeping weed illegal is nothing more than a marketing scam that's costing the tax payer billions of dollars ... there is a mentality in this country that being ignorant is an acceptable position - it is not and it will not longer be tolerated... this is a new day...no more 'truthiness' ... if a person doesn't have intellectual ability to comprehend the issues then i will explain them ... but it's not going to be the fun game they're used to playing.... email me mark...put your big boy panties on and meet me in person ... or smarten up ...that's your choice...
Libi Uremovic January 11, 2013 at 07:14 AM
15 minutes ....me and you alone with a camera running,,.....we will record stupid leaving your body .....come on you dickless fk'g coward .....give me 15 minutes clear up the confusion in your head .... 15 minutes dickless... give me 15 minutes....
Libi Uremovic January 11, 2013 at 07:22 AM
15 minutes ....you, me, and a camera running so i can record stupid leaving your body.... i'm a busy person, but it will only take me 15 minutes to eliminate your stupid... and you don't get to claim ignorance because ignorance implies lack of knowledge and all of the knowledge is available, but you can't process the information to come to the correct conclusion...and that's make you stupid.... and if you run your mouth about less government control and more personal freedoms and 'i don't want to pay taxes' then you're a stupid hypocrite ... no, there is no debate .,...there is no other answer....you're just stupid....
Libi Uremovic January 12, 2013 at 02:36 AM
how about if you bring your arsenal of weapons...will that make you feel brave enough to stand in the same room with an old woman? how about if you bring another guy just like yourself...two against one...do you think you'll have the courage to repeat your stupid if you're standing there with someone that also follows blindly... what about 9 other guys...10 to 1...do you think that will make your stupid any less stupid? nope...it's still stupid....and if everyone in the room is stupid it doesn't make you right....it makes you all stupid.... every day for the rest of your life you'll rehearse in your head what you would say to my face ...if you only had the balls....
