Jeri Jacquin, Movie Maven

Coming to DVD this week from SHOUT! Factory and writer R.L. Stine is R.L. STINE’S THE HAUNTING HOUR: THE SERIES.

Find out what's happening in Imperial Beachwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

This DVD tells several stories in a two-disc set so hold onto your seats! In the first DVD, Volume Five, there is the story of ‘Scary Mary’ Parts 1 and 2 because just one part isn’t hardly enough!

The next story is that of ‘Swarmin Norman’ that will leave your head buzzing followed by ‘Flight’. Just when you think its safe to go back into the patch there is ‘Pumpkinhead’!

In the second DVD, Volume Six, THE HAUNTING HOUR has done it again with the two-part story ‘Creature Feature’. If you still ready for more you can test your sanity with ‘Brush with Madness’. To wrap up the stories is ‘Sick’ and ‘Mascot’.

Are you ready for a night of THE HAUNTING HOURS?

FINAL WORD: Seriously folks, you can’t even begin to imagine how hard it is to write a DVD review when you can’t really go into the stories that THE HAUNTING HOUR tells. It would ruin any fun and chills and I won’t be held responsible for that.

I had such a fun time watching each of the stories because of such unexpected plots twists and scary tales that are the right mixture of fun and jump! I was introduced to this series a few years ago and ever since am always thrilled to see more wondering what they could possibly come up with next!

You can see more of R.L. STINE’S THE HAUNTING HOUR: THE SERIES Saturday’s at 6 and 6:30 p.m. on the Hub Network. This series has already received a 2013 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Children’s Series and its no surprise to me nor any of the loyal followers.

The Hub Network’s lineup includes animated and live-action series as well as specials, game shows and family-favorite movies. SHOUT! Factory is amazing with its own offerings of classic television, films, animation, comedy and music for any family’s library. See more at www.shoutfactory.com.

TUBS OF POPCORN: I give R.L. STINE’S THE HAUNTING HOUR: THE SERIES Vol. 5/6 four tubs of popcorn out of five. Again the stories are fantastic with the right amount of scary for the whole family. This series of stories never pushes the envelope so far that it isn’t fun to watch. Instead the stories are well done, the filming is perfect and the casting couldn’t be better.

Both DVD’s have a cast list that include such young actors as Liam James from the AMC hit series THE KILLING, Joel Courtney from the film SUPER 8, and Dakota Goyo from the Hugh Jackman film REAL STEEL.

This is what family television is and this series is an amazing addition to the belief that there is quality programming available for everyone in the household to watch. Turn out the lights, grab some popcorn and cuddle up because its going to get creepy in the house!

In the end – get ready for more eerie tales of THE HAUNTING HOUR!
