Coming this Tuesday, January 21 at 9 p.m. to REELZ is the outrageous reality show that has caught my attention about HOLLYWOOD HILLBILLIES.

This series tells the story of Michael Kittrell, a young man from Georgia who is a YouTube sensation with 150 million viewers. With his fiery redheaded ways, The Angry Ginger believes himself to be a rapper, dangers and all around entertainment threat.

When a manager from Los Angeles comes into the picture, his grandmother aka Mema has something to say on the subject – and oh boy does she! Planning a trip to Hollywood Mema isn’t about to let her grandson go into the den alone. Packing up to take the trip as well are Aunt DeeDee and Uncle Big John.

In the first episode it is clear that Mema is large and in charge. As Michael meets with his manager she quizzes him relentlessly about what he is going to do for her grandson and what this is all going to cost the family. Michael is a star and it’s clear the apple obviously didn’t fall far from the tree.

It’s about to get ugly up in the bright lights of Hollyweird!

FINAL WORD: Are you kidding me? What a family, oh wait – they sort of remind me of my own family! There is always a head of family and Mema has made darn sure that everyone knows where she stands. I can’t even imagine anyone going up against her and when Michael’s manager tries to charm Mema THAT’S when you know she’s a force to be reckoned with.

Michael is just a spitfire redhead who found his niche on the internet. Having watched some of his videos it’s easy to see the attraction. Of course once TOSH.0 gave it even more attention this young man skyrocketed to a fame that is filled with all the craziness one would expect.

Aunt DeeDee and Uncle John are just comical – period. They are so enraptured by their surroundings I personally don’t see how they will ever go home again. There is something to be said for living the good life and they have no trouble expressing their joy.

TUBS OF POPCORN: I give HOLLYWOOD HILLBILLIES three and a half tubs of popcorn out of five. I have to tell you folks I spent some serious time laughing at the antics of this family. You can have your Kardashians and you can have your Jonas’ and I’ll take the Kittrell family any day hands down!

It is obvious who the brains of the family is since Mema tells it like it is and doesn’t really have a filter (which is probably why I like her) and Michael is just insane with optimism about his stardom. Aunt DeeDee is going to prove to be a handful and Uncle Big John is an accident waiting to happen. Maybe I like them because they remind me of folks I know!

REELZ has once again brought family entertainment as only they can. From drama to documentaries and now HOLLYWOOD HILLBILLIES, this network is bold and not afraid of funny in the least. There is so much outstanding programming its hard to keep up with them.

So take a moment to see the HOLLYWOOD HILLBILLIES for yourself on Tuesday January 21 at 9 p.m. on REELZ followed by second episode as Michael auditions for a ginger ale company while DeeDee and John spend the day finding a family car.

In the end – a family of high-spirited hillbillies are set to take on the city of angels!
