Coming to DVD and Bluray from director/writer/editor Jeremy Seifert and Submarine Deluxe comes the disturbing truth about what we eat with GMO OMG.

The documentary tells us all about what really goes on with the food we eat. Deciding it’s time to education his own children, Jeremy begins to show them how to identify foods with GMO’s. He begins with teaching his own children about McDonalds, WalMart, Food 4 Less, Subways, Denny’s, In N’ Out and Whole Foods discovering that “all natural” is not - including Breyers ice cream. 

What are GMO’s? Genetically Modified Organisms that have been genetically modified with their genetic materials altered. The controversy surrounds their use in foods that are consumed, government regulations, scientists and whether foods containing GMO’s should be labeled as such.

Trying to discover answers from those leading the way in GMO farming, Seifert sets his sights on Monsanto in an attempt to get answers.
This is the story of a father who seeks answers to provide the best for his young children. 

FINAL WORD: Seifert takes to informing us all of what is going on with our food. Speaking about the giant chemical companies and how they influence agriculture, he also speaks of a cultural crisis.

So packing up the family and hitting the road they head to Monsanto. Along the way they meet farmers who grow with chemicals. Trying to get an interview proved frustrating.

Where else can he go? He goes to Norway. In a vault -15 are seeds in a mountain in Norway are seeds from all over the world. He goes there to se for himself. Cary Fowler is the Executive Director of the Global Crop Diversity Trust with over 700,000 seeds that bring countries together. 

Then off to France where he discovers a health study of GMO’s and its effects. After a two year study, Gilles-Eric Seralini, Phd. (Professor, University of Caen), believes there are severe implications to human health. 

In between he speaks with Dennis Kucinich, (D-House of Rep. of Ohio), Hans Herren (President. Millennium Institute), Andrew Kimbrell (Executive Director, Center for Food Saftey), Vandana Shiva (Founder, Research Foundation for Science & Technology and Ecology) talk about the lack of data and health problems that can occur.

There is also the discussion about organic farming and whether or not those farms can produce what is needed to feed the world, especially if ground water is contaminated. He speaks with Rodale Farming Systems that provide an answer.

TUBS OF POPCORN: I give GMO OMG three and a half tubs of popcorn out of five. This really is a fantastic DVD for anyone who wants to learn about GMO’s and understand the concerns. This has been an issue that is grabbing headlines more and more so it’s time to educate ourselves.

Knowing that chemicals of any kind in food has been of serious concern, it is interesting to learn that the United States is so far behind in protecting its citizens. Hearing what all the speakers have to say should be an ear opener and give us some of the tools we all need to become more informed on our own. 

A time will come soon where we have no excuse for not knowing what it going from our plates into our bodies and GMO OMG is a great way to get started.
