This film tells the story of Captain Stone (Andrew Tiernan), and the American and Finnish soldiers in 1941 on a mission into Nazi territory. While weaving in and out of the woods they run into zombie soldiers. The platoon can't even begin to understand what is going on.

Along with Lt. Laasko (Mikko Leppilampi), Kolya (Samuel Vauramo), Captain Niemi (Jouko Ahola), Selzman (Mark Wingett), and Sgt. Halonen (Antti Reini) they begin taking down the undead. As they begin to run out of options they run into The Russian (Alden Anderson) who knows where the bunker is.

Looking for the radio inside the bunker they begin to discover the evil experiments that had gone on before and the reason for the creation of the zombies. Now, they need reinforcements to stop the never-ending attack from the flesh hungry army of the dead.

FINAL WORD: Tiernan is the rock that holds this group together. As they each start to fall its only makes their determination stronger to find the source of these creatures. All the cast works well together but there is a hint of fun mixed in there as well.

I wonder though, is it me or are these zombies faster than most? Not that I mind but wow there were some seriously focused zombies in this film who had no trouble jumping out of trees and running over hills. The makeup and eyes were pretty awesome as well.

Other cast include: Magdelena Gorska as Dasha, Marko Makilaasko as Corporal Jackson, Geoffry and T. Bersey as the Old Man.

TUBS OF POPCORN: I give WAR OF THE DEAD three tubs of popcorn out of five. It is done in the raw and gritty gray that just adds to the zombie effects. Personally, and everyone knows this of me, I like any zombie movie made so you can't go wrong as far as I'm concerned.

Mixing all the genres of war, horror and brotherhood is an interesting way to go to bring out a walking dead epic.

In the end - what killed them made them stronger!
