Top 10 Films of the Week

Top box office movies of the past week.

GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD - (R) Bruce Willis is back as John McClane but this time he's off to Russia to help his son Jack played by Jai Courtney to catch some more bad guys with quippy retorts, family friction and taking out the bad guys. Going into the film any DIE HARD fan knows exactly what to expect. Yippy ki yay mother Russia! Three tubs of popcorn out of five.

IDENTITY THIEF - (R) Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy team up for a comedy of a different kind. Bateman is Sandy, the average working man trying to get ahead for his family until McCarthy's character 'Sandy' decides to take over his life in every way possible. Stealing his identity, Sandy is determined to find the other Sandy and get his life back! There is some good comedy here! Three tubs of popcorn out of five.

SAFE HAVEN -(PG-13) Author Nicholas Sparks has once again brought love, romance mixed with tragedy to the screen with Julianna Hough and Josh Duhamel just in time for an extended Valentines weekend. Three tubs of popcorn out of five.

ESCAPE FROM PLANET EARTH - (PG) While most aliens are trying to get to earth, there are a group anxious to get away! Scourch Supernova is an astronaut from a blue planet, imagine his surprise to find a planet where the inhabitants are not! Good family film with giggles galore. Three tubs of popcorn out of five.

WARM BODIES - (PG-13) The zombie are back - well sort of. Julie falls for a zombie but not just any zombie. 'R' is a zombie who seems to be a little more human than the rest. Julie's Dad doesn't think so but when your father is played by John Malkovich I'd be scared too. This is a fun film for sure. Three tubs of popcorn out of five.

BEAUTIFUL CREATURES - (PG-13) What happens when you put a young guy in the middle of a town with a strange and beautiful young girl with family secrets? You get BEAUTIFUL CREATURES and a cast filled with love, romance, teen angst and lots of special effects. Three tubs of popcorn out of five.

SIDE EFFECTS - (R) I seriously am rooting for this film to do well. If your looking for intrigue, twists, plot, turns, unexpected surprises and a cast that just knocks it out of the park then this film is for you. Why don't I say more? Because you'd be very angry at me for ruining it so the only answer is - go see it! Four tubs of popcorn out of five.

SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK - (R) Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence star as two people with their own emotional problems who take on one another in the hopes that their lives will change. Also starring Robert DeNiro and Jackie Weaver, this film already has Oscar buzz written all over it and gaining momentum among theater goers. Three and a half tubs of popcorn out of five.

HANSEN AND GRETEL: Witch Hunters - (R) This isn't the fairy tale we remember as kids. Jeremy Renner and Gemma Atherton play the title role of brother and sister who spend more time getting beat up than doing the beating. This is not, I repeat, not a film for children with its violence and scary creatures which is probably why its hanging on the top ten list. Three tubs of popcorn out of five.

ZERO DARK THIRTY - (R) Oscar winning director Kathryn Bigelow delves deep inside the history behind the hunt for Osama bin Laden and brings the story to screen. This is a very technical film that doesn't hold back the brutality of war. Four tubs of popcorn out of five.
