Opening in theatres this Friday from director Antoine Fuqua, Millennium Films and Film District comes the action that must be taken because OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN.

This film tells the story of Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) ex-special forces and one time guard to the President of the United States Benjamin Asher (Aaron Eckhart). After a tragic accident, Banning is reassigned to a desk job that has left him wanting to get back into service.

One morning the country is brought to a stand still when a band of unknown attackers lay siege to the White House while President Ash is speaking with representatives of South Korea. The secret service immediately take action grabbing the President, Vice President, Secretary of Defense McMillian (Melissa Leo), along with former Secret Serviceman Forbes (Dylan McDermott) and the South Koreans into the nest beneath the White House.

But the enemy is outside as well as in as Banning takes it upon himself to get inside the White House and find the Presidents son Connor (Finley Jacobsen). He is being led by Speaker Trumbull (Morgan Freeman) and Secret Service Director Jacobs (Angela Bassett) who feed him intel.

The bigger job is to take down those who would take the U.S. down!

FINAL WORD: Butler gets a chance to jump into an action film full force. As Banning he is a caring individual but longs for the post he once held close to the President. Butler is an actor who can focus on the action and intensity, which is what he needs to be the one man military who can bring down an enemy.

Eckhart as the President is very dedicated to his family and staff of the White House. I’m not sure I would agree that doing what he did in the bunker (no, I’m not going to give anything away!) is a reaction I would want out of a President but hey-it’s a movie!

Leo as McMillian has my vote for any office she runs for. Wow, just watching her endure what she did is definitely the kind of woman I’d want for a President. Leo continues to put everything into her performance no matter how large or small the part is. I absolutely love her!

Freeman as Speak Trumbull is a role I’ve seen him in before and in the same situations i.e. a little film called DEEP IMPACT. I wish they wouldn’t downplay this actor into roles based on his name. He still has so much talent that is unexplored. Bassett is also once again playing a role I’ve seen her do i.e. a little film called CONTACT.

Jacobsen as the Presidents son is wiry and smart and apparently that’s important when living in the White House. He is friends with Butler’s characters, which was a nice touch. McDermott as Forbes (I said NO, I’m not going to give anything away!) once again will get the audience’s blood pumping.

FILM BRAT: It was awesome! It’s an action packed film with lots of twists and angles. The story had elements of believability but it also is a film showing how to take over the White House! Butler is hot, I agree with Movie Maven about Eckhart and his portrayal as President. Without giving it away feel free to ask me after you’ve seen it! McDermott is a sexy bad boy with a complex.  I love Morgan Freeman and I say Freeman for President 2016!

Other cast include: Rick Yung as Kang, Radha Mitchell as Leah, Cole Hauser as Roma, Phil Austin as Vice President Charlie Rodriguez, James Ingersoll as Admiral Nathan Hoenig, Freddy Bosche as Diaz, Sean O’Bryan as Ray Monroe, Lance Broadway as O’Neil and Ashley Judd as Margaret Asher.

TUBS OF POPCORN: I give OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN three tubs of popcorn out of five and Film Brat gives it three and a half. This is purely an action film from start to finish never allowing the audience a moment to catch their breath. The film will do well among the fierce and those who love to rally and cheer.

This is definitely not a film for younger audiences and does have continuing almost non-stop violence throughout so parents be aware of that before you purchase your ticket. It’s a good movie but pretty graphic with the gunplay.

Director Fuqua, best known for his films SHOOTER with Mark Wahlberg and TRAINING DAY with Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke, takes a gripping look at one of America’s most recognized and beloved symbols.
