Coming to DVD this week from director Lowell Dean and EntertainmentOne is a chiller from the world of zombies with 13 EERIE.

This film tells the story of six undergrads forensic grads that want to be part of the FBI. Starting with Megan (Katharine Isabelle), Daniel (Brendan Fehr), Josh (Brendan Fletcher), Patrick (Jesse Moss), Kate (Kristie Patterson) and Rob (Michael Eisner) these six are taken to a remote island to train.

Led by Captain Veneziano (Lyndon Bray), the remote island was once used for biological testing on criminals. The six see the conditions they are living in and aren’t very happy. The place is in shambles and kind of creepy.

It doesn’t take long before things to go wrong. The six are put in pairs and sent out to investigate a crime scene, a scene that has real cadavers waiting for them. What they don’t count on is one of the cadavers coming back to life and bringing some walking dead friends with him!

Now, instead of training to understand the dead they are running from them!

FINAL WORD: This is definitely a zombie film! From moment one these creepy little foot draggers don’t waste any time going for human food. Isabelle as Megan gets creative in her handling of the slimy flesh eaters. Fehr as Daniel makes a few foolish moves but are there smart moves when being stalked by the living dead?

Fletcher as Josh and Moss as Patrick get plenty of exercise dealing with these little ankle biters. Patterson as Kate and Eisner as Rob don’t have much choice in having face-to-face time the cadavers!

Shanks as Tomkins gets a chance to look tough! If this name or face seems familiar you might recognize Dr. Daniel Jackson from the STARGATE series on SyFy. It really is good to see him in the world of walkers!

Other cast include: Ryland Alexander as Tattoo Zombie, Shannon Jardine as Skinhead Nazi Zombie, and Jason Truong as Thug Zombie.

TUBS OF POPCORN: I give 13 EERIE three and a half tubs of popcorn out of five. This is definitely an addition for anyone that has to have zombie films (which I do!). Of course there are moments of campy but the special effects are truly pretty cool! This is from the producers of SILENT HILL and RESIDENT EVIL 4 so you know you are going to see action and some righteous gore!

The DVD also offers a making-of featurette, a photo gallery and an audio commentary with the director and producer. This is always fun to listen to because you get more insight and a few extra laughs so make sure to dive into the extras!

In the end – the zombie mutant convicts are out for dinner!
