3-Year-Old Helps Paint IB Egg Hunt Banner [Photos]

Three-year-old Ayla Angeles has been painting since she was two and shows her love for mixing paint and painting it onto canvas. She is helping paint the banner for the upcoming Imperial Beach Easter Egg Hunt. The event is happening this Saturday the 19th of April at the Imperial Beach Pier park.

Ayla is responsible for painting the grass on the banner and shows her talents and enjoyment of making her contribution to the banner. She is very intelligent and knows what she wants when it comes to painting. She also enjoys drawing and takes as many pieces of paper from the director of, "The Art Kids of San Diego County," as she can handle.

Three is a great age to start kids in art as they love the colors and the textures of the paint. They do not have to paint anything special but their work is always amazing because it shows that they are communicating in another manner. I think some parents expect too much from young kids and want them to be great artists from the get go. It is very important that we allow the young kids the freedom of painting to express their own creativity.

Praise is essential during this process as it encourages the child to do more and learn more. Positive reinforcement is an excellent way to encourage the young art to learn and to desire to create even more. I do not expect anything great at their age but do love to see their imagination run with the colors and the brushes.

Ayla loves to paint with me as she is given encouragement by both me and her mother. The canvases she does show she is painting things she knows and sees in her life. It is a wonder when I see her paint and hear her explain about what she is painting. I always thank her for sharing and painting with me as it makes her happy to know that she is doing something she likes and that a big person enjoys painting with her.
