Poem for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving 2013

How precious is life when all have reached the twilight of their years,

We have said goodbye to friends which have brought many of us to tears.

Each day is a privilege for all to live upon this earth,

Find out what's happening in Imperial Beachwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Wondering if we have fulfilled our purpose since the day of our birth.

We gather today to give thanks for the food and company that we keep,

With hope that our lives will continue on and its meaning will not be so deep.

The puzzles have been put together and some of the questions and answers known,

Chess pieces moved, games have been played, just to see who is now on the throne.

Yes our loved ones who have passed gave meaning was it all in vain?

Is the world so blind to the truth that we have lost the value of life and gone insane?

Peace on earth good will towards men is the holiday coming around the bend,

Yet, the answer to this is within our hearts, how the events of this year will truly end.

It begins with Thanksgiving; a feast started long ago, bringing thanks within our house,

It remembers all from the Indians of the past, to even the quiet Christmas mouse.

So why can we not carry this theme throughout the year as the holidays bring joy?

Life is so precious, providing warmth and love, not to be treated as a common little toy.

Let us then put thanks within our soul, peace within our heart,

Love for all of mankind and make the end of this year a brand new start.

To observe the Love of God for each person here living on this earth.

To put back the true meaning of the holidays, thanksgiving, hope, love and realize the true meaning of His glorious birth.
