Cherry Coke

I ordered a cherry coke at Corvette Diner and it brought me back to the days when nothing was complicated.

They made me a cherry coke

Took me back to another
time

A different milestone reached

But remembered like yesterday

Trying to figure out who I am, like today

How many cherries are in my glass

How long has it been

Talking about it back then

Was such a sin

Ladies just waited for Prince Charming to come along

Was it right, was it wrong, he was charming…..

I drank the cherry coke today

Each cherry one by one

Smiling at yesterday’s memories

Laughing in the sun

Chugging down my soda pop but now I chase some rum

following the yellow brick road to another fork

In time, mellowing out and watching the world with a glass of Cherry
Wine

But now the cherry’s gone away

Replaced by Zifendel

And Chardonay and IPA

But every once in awhile

I crave the days of cherry cokes

And poodle skirts and smile.
