*Suffering Is The Best Teacher*

This morning I was, um, MAD. My bad knee was off the charts in pain. Due to my old, blond brain I blew it over the week end. I over worked my poor knee. (I forgot I'm not 20 anymore.) Geez, talk about pay the price. I rode my tanker Schwinn too far, I walked too many blocks downtown, and the most fun was seeing a late movie that had two trillion stairs.
Going up the stairs was a piece of cake. Going down with a mob behind me was not good. A broken knee (or in my case a  broken knee hinge) does not go down stairs, down hills, down anything, period. Only up please.
Today I had a grand pity party. I had a bad attitude with my bad knee. I hobbled around like a 90 year old. I couldn't do a morning walk or bike ride to the beach. No fresh air, no hummingbird sighting and no ENDORPHINS, so "DON'T TALK TO ME!"
After I put a note in my husband's lunch, I ventured to the freezer for an outer pop. (Frozen flavored ice treat for kids) NO I didn't eat it. I slid it in my knee brace to freeze the pain and ease my brain.
I picked up someone's napkin off the kitchen table when suddenly liquid gushed down my leg to my foot. My mad brain asked, "What?" My eyes saw red, blood looking liquid. This blond's first thought was, "Did the sharp plastic wrapper cut me?" (Sure Cindy)
Second thought was, "Oh my God, God has a sense of humor."  God is saying,"Knock it off. Smile. Lighten up. Get over it. Be happy."
I lifted my jammy bottoms to see cherry juice pouring down my leg. My knee was covered. It looked like blood. The napkin was handy and saturated.
I laughed as I threw away the holey, cherry outer pop and replaced it with a frozen grape one. I grabbed three paper plates, sat down and wrote you.
I've decided the next time I'm roped into a movie with two trillion stairs I will remember my poor, old knee. When the movie is over I will slide down the railing.
