White Sea Bass fishing off Imperial Beach

September through October is a great time of year for White Sea Bass fishing off Imperial Beach. The warmth of the water and the abundance of bait fish bring in large White Sea Bass and Thresher Shark.  The best spots....well I won't share my spots unless you are with me...stretch from Coronado to the Mexican Border. The Old Submarine Wreck is a great spot for Sculpin and Calico Bass.  Another great spot came from Louie Hooplin a deck hand on the New Mascot fishing boat circa (1950 to1959).  Louie was one of the first deck hands on the New Mascot.  Louie claimed that while in transit to Imperial Beach a large barge with 5 ton boulders flipped and all the boulders were lost. This boulder field is now a productive artificial reef.  Its location is a secrete only known to a few.  The stealth of the Kayak is my method but spearfishing off the kelp patties has been very productive.  If you ever want to go fishing off Imperial Beach stop by the garden and we can plan our trip.
