IB Hoppin - Summer in full stride
The summer is powering the garden to put out lots of great veggies.
There are some crops that many people have not had a chance to see before. Hops are a crop that most people walking by the garden take a second and third stare at. When you walk by take a chance to touch the overhanging leaves. Hop leaves are like shark skin....smooth one way and sandpaper the other.
Another rare plant is the Lakota squash. I have not tasted it yet but according to the seed pack this was a staple of native american's and is named after the Lakota Indian tribe.
The children's squash tunnel is a work in progress and we welcome all families and children to visit.
