Chickens are the main attraction
Summer is showing its stuff in the garden. The Kiwanis Kids Garden is doing great and the pumpkins and squash are climbing the tunnel netting. The chickens put out 5 eggs yesterday and they look great.
People are enjoying the sloughs and they have many questions about organic gardening here in Imperial Beach. Great part about living in Imperial Beach is that we have free fertilizer sitting on the beach. Also, the kelp is a natural bug eliminator. They don't want to get near it and the plants love all the trace minerals that come with it. If you make a kelp tea the remains keep moisture in the soil so you use less water.
After five years the soil just keeps getting better.
If you have any gardening tips...stop by the garden in the early mornings or late afternoons.
Best Regards
