FIESTA DEL RIO: Celebrating the Tijuana Estuary & its Cultures!

Fiesta del Río 2013 is a celebration of the peoples, cultures, history, and environment ofthe San Diego/Northern Baja region surrounding the Tijuana River Estuary. It's an annual event, attracting over 1,500 people, celebrating  heritage, pride, and cultures of Mexico and the United States.

The theme this year will be “Celebrating the Tijuana Estuary- our local living laboratory.”  We chose this theme to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the event and the critical wetland research at the Reserve.
Imperial Beach Pier Plaza will host a variety of entertainment such as Ms. Smarty Plants from the Water Conservation Garden with "Wetland Wonders," "Gadgets and Tools-Past and Present," and Mariachi Estrellas de Chula Vista; tours of the Reserve provided by Tijuana Estuary’s biologists; and research and technology-themed activities for families and children.  There will be booths to visit featuring Reserve scientists, US Fish & Wildlife Service, Think Blue San Diego, Living Coast Discovery Center, and native Kumeyaay arts and crafts.

Fun that is geared toward kids, and the whole family!
