This weekend, what did you celebrate?

Looking back on the long weekend:  what did you celebrate? Did you celebrate time with the family? Did you celebrate the beautiful Imperial Beach weather that makes our friends and family back East jealous? Did you shop a big sale?

Did you stress over your significant other’s reaction to the Valentine’s Day plans – or lack of plans? Fought your kids to complete a school project? Did the bank and post office closures become bothersome?

Did you check social media every few minutes to see what your friends were doing over the holiday and what they got for Valentine’s Day?

We are meant to celebrate the leadership and foresight that was given by two of our most influential Presidents – Presidents Washington and Lincoln. They had a vision of what they wanted for our country; they had a belief in what would make our budding country a model for the rest of our world; they were instilling basic rights to a whole country. All were novel ideals for their times. They fought for the belief that our country is better with each person having a say, having freedoms, challenging each other to be better for the whole.

Both these men had hurdles to overcome. They saw war at their doorstep. Through this they stood strong in their beliefs.

Their leadership inspired others.
