Trying your first Loop

Having some fun with your first sample

Today we'll download a .wav file and play with it a little bit to create some interesting sounds.

First download this file -  Drums (make sure you keep track of where you download the file too - most things today go to your Downloads folder)

Open up your Audacity program and browse to the Download directory and find the "Acoustic Drumloop 08.wav" file and open it up.  Your Audacity program should look like Picture 1.

If you click play, the sound will play through one time stopping at the end of the file.  Now, if you hold the shift key and click play again, the program will loop the file!  Notice how the play button changes when you hold down the shift key Picture 2

Congratulations! You just looped your first sound :)

Now have some fun - Try adding an effect.  Click Effect and try the "Wah Wah" effect.  You can preview most of the effects here too before you apply them to your sample.  Play with the sliders a bit too Picture 3

NOTE : When I work with sounds I always save my file with a new name, just so if I mess something up, I can always revert to the original file.
