Warm Weather On the Way Before Possible Thunderstorms

Temperatures are forecast to reach into the 90s Friday for most parts of San Diego County. Thunderstorms and rain may come to the region Sunday.

After a few days of temperatures in the low- to mid-60s, warmer weather is forecast Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures are expected to reach highs of 84 near the coast in Imperial Beach, the low 90s in Nestor, Coronado, Chula Vista and mid-90s in downtown San Diego and East County.

Among hazardous weather warnings, a south swell may bring above average surf and rip currents to local beaches.

A wind advisory was issued as wind may reach 20 to 30 mph and gusts of up to 60 mph in some Southern California mountains and valleys. A "red flag" wildfire warning was issued for San Diego mountains and valleys Wednesday and is scheduled to continue through 6 p.m. Friday.

Chance of thunderstorms and rain forecast Sunday through Tuesday morning, the NWS said.
