Rain and Strong Winds Expected Tuesday, Wednesday

Rain, strong winds and lower than average temperatures are expected for Imperial Beach and San Diego through Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The first of two late season storms are expected to bring cold, wet and windy weather to San Diego County today.

The storms will reinforce the cold air that is already in place, causing temperatures to remain five to 15 degrees below normal along the coast and in the inland valleys, and 20 to 30 degrees below normal in the mountains and deserts, according to the National Weather Service.

In Imperial Beach Tuesday expect a high temperature of 64 and low of 54 with a chance of rain of 90 percent in the morning and 80 percent in the evening.

The agency advised that strong gusty southwest to west winds were in store for the mountains and deserts through Tuesday evening. Wind may reach speeds of 25 mph in Imperial Beach Tuesday and Wednesday.

The second late season storm is expected to arrive on Wednesday. The NWS
advised it would bring even stronger, more widespread southwest to west winds, but a lower chance of rain for Imperial Beach with a 40 percent chance in the morning and 20 percent chance in the evening.

Rainfall totals from the two storms will range between a quarter-inch to
an inch, according to the weather service.

Sunshine should return Thursday.
