The 43-year-old was thrown from the Honda bike sometime before 6:15 a.m., officials said.

A 43-year-old Imperial Beach man was killed in a motorcycle crash on a South Bay freeway exit ramp Friday, authorities said.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner released the victim's name Saturday, Darnell Adams, who was widowed and lived with family, according to the examiners report.

While the man's body and heavily damaged motorcycle were found along the southbound Interstate 5 off-ramp to E Street about 6:15 a.m., officials don't know when the crash occurred, according to the California Highway Patrol and the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

Officials believe the rider of the 2008 Honda CBR1000 — traveling at an unknown speed — was unable to negotiate the turn on the off-ramp, crashed and was thrown from his vehicle, said CHP Officer Tommy Doerr.

The man died at the scene, authorities said. His name was withheld pending family notification.
