Dressed as a witch at her home near the corner of 14th Street and Fern Avenue Wednesday evening, Jeanne Winne was trying to get the motion activated zombie and skeleton on her front lawn to work.

"I don't know what's wrong with them," she said. "All week they've been attacking the mail man and stuff."

She was surrounded by tombstones, jumping spider and cobwebs, a large inflated pumpkin, skeletons, a fog machine and lasers as she handed out full-sized Snickers bars.

"I love Halloween. It's my favorite holiday," she said.

Elsewhere, hundreds came to St. James Lutheran Church for their annual Trunk-or-Treat, where trick-or-treaters went car to car in the church's parking lot.

Strong Tower Community Church or Iglesia de la Communidad Torre Fuerte held its Family Fun Night complete with a puppet show, jump house, arts and crafts and food and candy.

YMCA Camp Surf also held a carnival Wednesday evening.

I live in the 800 blk of Oneonta and it was nutz. We had trick or treaters coming until 9:30pm. I think half of Tijuana was here.

Andy, How did your end of the street get more than me? (700 block of Oneonta - we had the graveyard yesterday.) It was less than last year, although there were more older kids. :( I loved seeing all the kids come by. I think more and more parents are taking to "safe" trick or treating locations, like Trunk or Treat or malls.

Ericka,Don't know how but we ran out of candy by 7pm and had to run to Wally's to get more. We couldn't enter CVS,as some kids did a beer run and the place was full of Sheriff's. We almost ran out of candy again. Just a few pieces left over.

Next time send them my way! We have a large bag of leftovers and keeping them from a 3 year old and me, well, it isn't working. :)
