  • Why go: Businesses from around the area will serve samples of their food and services to introduce you to what your local businesses can do.

  • Where/when: Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve, 301 Caspian Way, Imperial Beach, 11-12 p.m. Saturday
  • Why go: Learn more about the estuary, its many ecosystems and what makes it one of biologically diverse places in San Diego County.
  • Price: Free

SALTY SOUNDS

  • Why go: Todd Wait brings his sweet sound to the Salty Frog.

  • Where/when: Broadway Pier at the corner of North Harbor Drive and West Broadway in San Diego Bay, 7-9 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. and 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
  • Why go: Art, bartender battles and all kinds of cocktails.
  • Price: $60 day pass, $90 VIP day pass
  • Where/when: The Village Theater, 820 Orange Ave., Coronado, 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
  • Why go: The theater re-opened after being shut for a decade ago and left to fall into disrepair. Three sold-out screenings will take place Thursday, but you can enjoy the pomp and circumstance from the street if you don't have a ticket. Regular showings began just after midnight Friday, with the Pixar flick Cars 2.
  • Price: $7.50-$10.50.
  • Where/when: , 1395 1st St, Coronado, 10 a.m. Saturday.
  • Why go: PAWS of Coronado celebrates June’s Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat Month with their annual Open House and Adoption Event at the Coronado Animal Care Facility.
  • Price: Free entry; $40 to adopt the first pet, $20 each for more
