On another note, the "Kids & Kastles" event will still be taking place this year. The Optimist Club of Imperial Beach is hosting this event. Members of the Optimist Club want people to know that this event is for the children and is not connected to the U.S. Open Sandcastle Competition in any way. This small event is a fundraiser for the Optimist Club and the date which was previously announced as July 7 is probably going to be changed.
