More Than 150 Classic Cars to Shine Aug. 6 on Seacoast Drive

Help raise money for the Boys & Girls Club of South County by entering your car in the show or donating prizes for the raffle. This is the ninth year of the Surf and Turf Classic Car Show.

Walk down the main drags of Imperial Beach on a weekend and you're sure to see (or hear) one of them go by: a hot rod, an old but glistening Chevy Malibu, a 1970s muscle car or a lowrider hitting hydraulic switches.

You can see more than 150 classics, Ford Model-As, trucks and other sparkling vehicles stretched across Seacoast Drive at the Surf and Turf Classic Car Show on Saturday, Aug. 6, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

If you have your own impressive automobile, there's still time to sign up. See the attached application for more information.

Thirty to 40 awards and trophies will be handed out for Best Interior, Best Engine, first, second and third places and other accolades.

Nestled at the top of the Best in Show trophy is a picture of the winning car.

Car clubs from across San Diego will attend, said Dennis Jauregui, in what is one of few classic shows in San Diego that allows both hot rods and lowriders.

"The South Bay Cruisers always come in big, and in fact there's usually about five or six of them there around six in the morning blocking the road off," he said.

Organizers are still seeking donations for the raffle to take place at the end of the show.

"It doesn't just have to be car geek stuff," Jauregui said. "It can be anything."

Call Nita Jauregui at 619-920-9878 to donate prizes.

All proceeds from the car show benefit the Boys & Girls Club of South County.
