My husband has a spinal cord injury (combat related) while serving in special warfare. He was bicycling dangerously with his feet strapped in on the strand bicycle path. The problem with this is that if he fell his feet were still strapped in and you can imagine the consequences. I finally talked him into stopping this dangerous activity. We see the large number of the low cycles with hand controls that would be perfect for him. We just don't know where to get them and probably couldn't afford one for him being he is 6 feet 4 inches tall. He is slender so that is not a problem. The CAF Gift was the first time I had heard of this and was wondering how would we apply? To clarify my paragraph the spinal cord injury came first, then he still was trying to stay as fit as he could and cycling was one way, but the way he was doing it was dangerous. I thank anyone that can give me information on this wonderful charity.
