UPDATED - Locals Opening on Palm Avenue; Vaporizors, Tactical Gear

Two new shops are readying their locations to open on Palm Ave., both locations are IB locals - opening locally.

"Top 5 e-Cigs on the market today"
As early as Wednesday, October 23rd San Diego e-Vapors is expected to open next door to Romantix, at 1181 Palm Ave.

Owners Rachael and Lance, who live near 7th st., say they are thrilled to be able to open locally, but obtaining a business license to operate their non-tobacco vaporizer store in Imperial Beach posed a significant challenge at the discretion of the city staff.

Staff was reportedly responsible for a lengthy and unexplained delay, apparently attempting to find any way to decline the couple's business license request through zoning, or land use laws.

After much back-and-forth with the city and state, the couple were finally able to prove - to the city's satisfaction - their store was not a tobacco or smoke shop, and should be permitted to operate in the city without further undo delay.

Owners of San Diego e-Vapors believe their e-Cig business will offer fellow locals a safer alternative to traditional cigarette smoking, and clean up the city by decreasing the amount of cigarette butts found on the ground and on the beach.

According to Lance, he cleared the front of his store of "a whole lot of butts a week ago, and none have reappeared since."

"From Practical to Tactical"
Committed to serving the warfighter from the latest in tactical gear and accessories, to practical items such as office supplies, Shore Solutions' got the things you need to get the job done, according to the company's website.

This California certified small, service-related disabled veteran owned business enterprise is expected to open as early as November 15th at 986 Palm Avenue - just in time for your practical or tactical holiday shopping needs.

Located between Express Tire and the Salty Frog, owner Martin Mattes CMDCM (SW/AW) (Ret.) who lives near the beach, says he's looking forward to offering a range of products made in the US, China and beyond.

Martin mentioned to me that he would also be carrying boots, and I'm sure construction workers will be flocking to him - just for them - the construction worker boot market alone is huge, especially around here!

I found this Remote Area Lighting System on Shore Solutions' website, now I just gotta have one!  I really like the yellow one...  It's so bright!

What do you think about the new locals, keep'n it local?  Let us know, in the comments below.

This is a not the first report you or I have read about a local having a tough time conducting business - in their own city.  Remember the Wienersnitzl sign

From the Wave Cafe on Seacoast - to the SubSmart on Palm it's the same old-tired-song... "prolong... prolong... prolong..."

Do the problems start from the bottom, or with the city's Senior Planner, or does it officially start with officials at the top?

It's nearly November - what's the status on the hotel, do you know? Should we know?  I stopped by yesterday and it's still singing the prolong song;
the same old-tired-song...
prolong... prolong... prolong...

city planning gone wrong...
dragging the voters along...
to the 2014 election song...
prolong... prolong... prolong...

while all the locals here long...

for the prolong - to be gone!
