New Hotel Takes Shape, Steel Frame to Rise in Weeks

The 78-room, four story hotel is scheduled to open in September 2012. Work on the structure's steel frame will begin Dec. 15, the hotel's owner said.

The frame of the hotel to replace the Seacoast Inn in Imperial Beach will begin to take shape in two weeks, hotel owner Pacifica Companies said.

Part of the hotel's podium deck concrete was placed Nov. 23. The other half will be poured Dec. 7. After that, according to Pacifica Companies Senior Project Manager Sergio Sandoval, the hotel's steel frame will begin to rise.

The ground floor's steel framing is scheduled to begin Dec. 15. The second floor will start in January and the third and fourth floors will start in February. Work will begin on the roof in March, he said. The hotel plans to open its doors for the first time in September 2012, said Pacifica Companies Director of Planning Allison Rolfe.
