Monta Vista Market Gives Back to the Community

The store will give an additional 5 percent to local non-profits in a lead-up to its one-year anniversary celebration.

Monta Vista Market is celebrating its one-year anniversary by giving away money—to local non-profit groups. Until Sept. 27 the recipient will be Northwest YMCA.

“This is the start of several weeks of community give-back programs which we will be sponsoring to help celebrate our first year anniversary in Cupertino, which will culminate in an anniversary sale and events the last half of October,” says owner Peter Yessne.

Five percent of sales will be donated by Monta Vista Market to the Y, is in addition to the Market’s standing donation of two percent that goes back to ALBA (Agriculture and Land-Based Association) in Salinas.

In addition to selling organic produce ALBA provides education and training to farmers and would-be farmers.

“We will be doing same for Kennedy Middle School and Monta Vista High next month. So for the next few weeks, seven percent of all customers’ sales will be donated to local non-profits,” Yessne says.

Monta Vista Market is the Green Certified Grocer in Cupertino. The store carries local produce and other organic products including dairy, dry goods, dried fruit, nuts, health bars, and more. Additionally a prepared “grab-n-go” section with fully prepared meals, sandwiches, salads, burritos, fruit cups, and healthy drinks.

Organic gardeners, Peter and his wife, Gail, have lived in Cupertino for 35 years. The store is located at 21666 Stevens Creek Blvd. (at Imperial Ave.)

Monta Vista Market sponsored Lincoln Elementary School in our Yearbook last year with a full page ad. We are grateful for their support of our Community! The store is small, clean, and well stocked; a great local resource for fresh fruits/veggies and more.
