The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County rose today to its highest amount since June 27, increasing 1.1 cents to $4.098.

The average price is 6.3 cents higher than one week ago, 14.3 cents more than one month ago and 6.8 cents above what it was one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price has increased seven consecutive days, including seven- tenths of a cent on Monday.

A "sharp upward tick in wholesale gas prices" occurred Thursday and Friday, stemming from two local refineries announcing they would be offline for repairs longer than expected and "a bottleneck in ethanol supplies due to transportation difficulties," according to Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
