I just think it is beautiful!! Maybe a little much for our little city but it's a place to go to enjoy yourself. I don't do the ocean I prefer a pool or a jazz...someday I am going to rent a room there so I can relax in the jazzuzi with a glass of wine and watch that beautiful sunset in our city.

Libi doesn't live in Imperial Beach anymore and hasn't for at least 6 months!! Somewhere in the San Francisco area now. But it's nice she still feels connected to IB...hmmmmm.
daren gts January 19, 2014 at 12:55 AM
If it is true that Libi no longer lives in IB, what is her motive to constantly attack and put down this town and insult its residents? She should get a life or see a psychiatrist or both!
Chico&The Man January 19, 2014 at 03:36 AM
Thats the life of some whether they are in SF Solana Beach or the moon they will bring there quad polar ways every place they step..

I haven't had the opportunity to visit the hotel,IB's crown jewel, but I've been looking forward to its opening for awhile. I, like many locals, feel a sense of pride and can't wait to share it with friends and family when they come to town.
Tom Murphy January 19, 2014 at 12:52 PM
Just FYI. I've lived in the condos next door (IB Club) for 19 years. Our pool is in constant daily use. It is a big attraction for vacationers.
JOhn January 19, 2014 at 01:24 PM
I guess Libi does not get out much, I have been all over the world and stayed at many top notch beach front resorts and what was the one thing they had in common? A great pool area. So Libi the hotel is built it looks great what done is done and if you are unable to move on then that's your problem.
Chico&The Man January 19, 2014 at 03:35 PM
honestly one of the stupidest comments libis ever posted..

daren gts January 20, 2014 at 02:40 PM
LIBI'S MOTIVES EXPOSED: Thank you Karen for the link to Libi's website which exposes her real motive for her comments here. I too was shocked to find out Libi is a professional trouble maker/self-appointed AUDITOR. She has an ulterior motive for her negative comments: MONETARY GAIN. She does not live in IB, but apparently in Rancho Cordova near Sacramento! Her website shows that she is involved in auditing many cities in California. She attempts to divide communities by making unfounded, negative, and destructive criticism and comments about them hoping to be hired as an auditor to make money off of them. Libi knows that IB was audited and no wrongdoing was found. Some recommendations were made regarding more accurate book-keeping. Libi should stop harassing IB and take her auditing business elsewhere. I ENCOURAGE ALL TO VISIT HER WEBSITE TO SEE FOR THEMSELVES: http://libionline.net/take-back-your-city.html

Whatever...the new hotel in IB is good for IB...
Pop Quiz January 21, 2014 at 03:24 PM
The Hotel is beautiful the restaurant is great. But the locals have got the short end of the stick again. Under the radar and without public input, the city has made Date street end 2 hour parking. They were supposed to give it back after construction. It was not 2 hour parking before the hotel, it should not be now. WHen will the undercover city council stop screwing the residents? No wonder the Mayor is giving his first State of the city address in 7 years at the Hotel, They get whatever they ask for, damn the residents. Come and watch the Mayors speech tonight.
Telling It Like It Is January 21, 2014 at 04:11 PM
The hotel is beautiful and the restaurant is amazing!! I was there just Saturday night (3rd time there) and enjoyed having dinner watching the sunset on our beach and pier. Loved seeing all the people taking pictures with our pier and water for a background. Took a stroll outside on the patio area and looked at the view and pool after dinner. A pool at a seaside hotel is always a good thing - not everyone enjoys the sand but they do enjoy the view of the ocean. POPQUIZ - as far as parking on Date Street and the locals getting screwed...there weren't that many spots to begin with and there is plenty of parking around. I think the people of IB came out with a true winner with this hotel and restaurant. I am glad I got to see it happen!!
Pop Quiz January 21, 2014 at 04:53 PM
So Telling, for you public input on public property is not important? Am i getting that right? I don't want to misunderstand your position. Or is it that we are getting screwed, but not that much? Just a few spaces? Am i getting this right? Have a great day
IBRalph January 21, 2014 at 05:49 PM
We received a letter from the city advising that the parking setup in the beach area would change. I think having 2 hour parking in that area will be good for small businesses. It will be easier for potential customers to park near their store. And for those who want to park there all day, let them do it.....and get a citation. We need the money. Win-win for everyone; they get to park there all day and it only costs them $50. Life is all about choices. Parking here in our beach area is still very light compared to Mission Beach, OB, PB etc.
Kay Kardian-Porter January 21, 2014 at 07:04 PM
The hotel charges $18.00 for parking included in the hotel bill. So if you rent a room make sure you tell them you are not parking in the hotel. Just letting everyone know.
Telling It Like It Is January 21, 2014 at 07:25 PM
Pop - public input is always very important. However, for this particular parking issue, all I am saying is that, one, there really wasn't very much parking there to start with, and two, there is still ample FREE parking by the beach. There is also a lot for only $2.00 for all day parking - where else in a beach community would you find that? Many of the citizens you say are getting screwed over would probably walk or ride their bike to the beach anyway. Occasionally I do drive to Seacoast Drive and never have to park more than a half block to where ever I am going. I agree with IBRalph that 2 hour parking does help the local businesses to have potential for customers ot park near their stores. All in all, this hotel is a big win for the city of Imperial Beach. Enjoy it! :)
Pop Quiz January 21, 2014 at 08:18 PM
Winning and losing. Truth and lies. For a few of people the grey area is ever growing. WE were PROMISED the parking would revert to the original public parking. It did not. So incrementally the city is lying its way to a paid parking. How long until they take the Daisy street parking? I bet less than a year. I hope we can hold them off until after the elections.
Pop Quiz January 21, 2014 at 08:34 PM
Hello IBRalph, Do you want to know why many people don't trust this city? The letter you got to brief you on the parking changes? I bet you didn't know only people at the beach got that letter? It is true. It was another sweetheart Seacoaster deal. The only opinion they wanted were people that would agree with them. Check the records, This is absolutely true. Ask around, it was a scam. If you got that letter, you must live west of third street. This city goes all the way to 14th street. The councils interest and investments stop at third. So let me ask you Ralph, is that fair? Would YOU have sent the information about parking to all IB residents? Or just the Seacoasters? Is IB just like Orwell's Animal farm? where we are all equal, only some are more equal? Ralph, if you live on Seacoast, or your an out of town consultant/investor. You have 3 members in your pocket and you have nothing to worry about until the elections. The hotel is beautiful, i want my parking back ,as promised. Really looking forward to the elections :-) !
Pop Quiz January 21, 2014 at 08:52 PM
Parking at Coronado Beach (#1 beach in the country according to some surveys) FREE parking ALL DAY Is that what you mean by where an you find free beach parking? At the beach called Shipwrecks (Coronado Shores) Free parking all day starting at 0500. Unlike IB where we established some arbitrary 0700 public parking regulation. So the working IB locals are more welcome in Coronado than their own home town to Dawn patrol before going to work.I know several surfers who have got tickets for parking at Daisey before 7am. They are looking forward to the elections also. I remind them every chance i get how much their city cares about their quality of life. Unlike many peoples outdated opinions, surfers work, go to college, vote. Some have family's and buy houses by the beach if they are lucky. It is important to remember these businesses came here. If they didn't like it or our parking, they chose very poorly. The locals can choke out any business they choose. Any tourists are still strictly theoretical. The residents are real. I have seen all the snake oil salesmen come and seen em' go. The locals are still here. Waiting for the elections (YAY!)

" Life is all about choices. Parking here in our beach area is still very light compared to Mission Beach, OB, PB etc." (quoting Ralph above) I think we would all agree parking in those areas Ralph listed is horrible (especially after work). But our city council just approved over building six, three bedroom condos with only 6 parking spaces. Is that an acceptable parking plan also? They build problems and then dump them onto the residents and damage our quality of life. 6 spaces for 18 residents paying a mortgage? Is that OK? Is that how OB, PB and mission beach did it? Do you think that horrible parking happened over night? Does the idea of every visiting family getting a parking tickets work for our "tourist" future i keep hearing about? So a full on parking battle against the residents is a good idea to benefit the Seacoasters? Jeez, why do some people that move here want to screw it up like where ever they came from? Life is short, live where you feel comfortable. Dont screw up our wonderful town , please. Remember the crowds, traffic, noise, HOA, complaining about your neighbors, Paid parking, spray tans? They made you happy right? We are just different here in IB. We want our small town. We want the same old public parking we have had since 1956. some of us still work on our cars and mow our own lawns. We own boats and jet skis and we park them in our drive ways. We know and talk to our neighbors and total strangers. It is different here in IB. I am thankful everyday for my small town. I am seeing all the many ways the city council is damaging the quality of life. Reducing parking at the beach, at the same time allowing construction without the REQUIRED off street parking. Looking forward to the elections. Hopefully it is not too late.....Just look past any opinions and think about parking in PB @ 5pm.
IBRalph January 22, 2014 at 12:16 PM
I'm glad you have the opportunity to get this off your chest, Pop Quiz. I still support the 2 hour parking. With your knowledge of all the various things going on in IB, I'm sure you will be able to get a good crowd to show up at a city council meeting to demand change, just like the crowd that stopped the ball field from being turned over to the YMCA. I have lived here in IB for the past 15 years; my wife has lived here in this house for 50 years. We've seen the town when it was infested with druggies, and at times, it seems not enough progress has been made to eradicate that. But overall, we are happy with the improvements around town. If I had a gripe about "back door deals", it would be the 2 big mansions built about 10 years ago, on the beach just to the south of the hotel, at a time when the Redevelopment plan should have called for hotels in that area to bring in tourists/visitors, increase business and bring in more taxes. I have heard the argument about old timers not wanting to lose our "small town" personality, but hey, that wouldn't increase business and it probably would result in IB going bankrupt. Then we would have San Diego annex us and our voices would really become small. We need to take every advantage of our beach asset. I think we're headed in the right direction.
Pop Quiz January 22, 2014 at 06:34 PM
Hello Ralph, Thanks for the interesting feedback. I will never think restricting locals access to their beach is a good idea. You have been lied to if you think our beach was supposed to be lined with hotels. That is simply a lie. The IB is going broke story has been around longer then my family (1952) It has been a well worn tool of the over development crowd forever. Check the IB history. What worries us "old timers (that cracked me up)" is people the move here want to destroy what we have for their personal gain. The Small Town argument is something you obviously don't value and/or don't understand. I get it, but i don't want to live in a crowded tourist city like you. We are just different. By the way we stopped the paid parking thing once. the problem is just like terrorist, the out of towners and developers never quit trying to destroy what we have. They do not understand it. The mansions? don't know the story there, but i bet there is one. The Ball Fields , what a moose turd pie that was! Once again investors over residents (kids, but still residents) I never saw IB as "infested with druggies". Dopers are everywhere. The ebb and flow is tragic but no worse here than anywhere else. Small towns cant hide it as well. If you have any Cop friends just ask them, Dope is everywhere. My son attended Coronado and Mar Vista. He told me that drugs were far more prevalent at Coronado. Anecdotal evidence, but he lived it. Not every person that rides a Harley or has Tattoos is a doper. Long hair and surfing are not good indicators either. Those are unfounded biases. Welcome to IB. We're not in Kansas anymore......;-) PS: Is any back door deals good for democracy ?
Pop Quiz January 22, 2014 at 06:40 PM
"just one more thing" as Columbo used to say in the old days. Ralph, what do you think of the six three bedroom condos with 6 parking places? Good idea? Thanks !
Kay Kardian-Porter January 22, 2014 at 07:22 PM
I own my condo and there is only four parking spaces for and there is seven condos. We have garages also to park our cars. I do not understand why you keep bickering about the parking spaces and the limit of parking. It happens, sir it happens all the time in around this city. Why don't you take your complaints to city hall and tell them how you feel. It seems that you want to keep on about this parking. Is it bothering you? Do you have a place to park? Then stop your bitching about it and go to the ones who did it. But I am tired of every time I look at my email its still about the dam parking.
Pop Quiz January 22, 2014 at 11:15 PM
Hello Kay, Sorry if you feel public discourse is Bitching. How about the simple facts/zoning laws? Is that ok with you? ALL condos in IB are required to have 1.5 off street parking places. It sounds like you have the required amount (garages are off street parking) I did not make the rules, our city did. Please get some rest and don't look at your emails. I will continue to point out illegal, unfair and weaselly city practices. Hopefully you can avoid my posts :-) Is the point of this to not talk about things that bother, I totally missed the memo ,hahahahahah

I'm glad Libi was exposed, I love my hometown and all the new businesses etc. I am thinking though, if parking is $18 a day at the hotel, I'm afraid people staying there are going to start catching on and just park down the street at residential parking. This could start becoming an issue for the people who live there and need the area themselves. Perhaps we should revisit the resident permit parking, at least within two or three blocks of the hotel. Plus it should be only those residents affected that should have a say (I'm not one).

throw stones and bear false witness .....one would think you read the new testament backwards, but the reality is you've never read it at all......so now it's time to parade yourselves into church, but instead of mocking jesus - go preach what you practice because that's who you are ....
