The Imperial Beach City Council will decide Wednesday whether to enter into a contract with Gary Andrew "Andy" Hall to become IB's new city manager, according to documents released Monday afternoon.

Hall is currently city manager of Cathedral City east of Palm Springs and would replace Gary Brown, retiring in August after 10 years as the city's chief executive officer.

Hall would be paid $175,000 a year and $500 a month for automobile expenses, among other benefits, the city said.

If Hall is unable to start as city manager in August, Mayor Jim Janney may appoint an interim city manager.

He was chosen from more than 60 applicants and will have no defined term in the appointed position. Before being hired to work in Cathedral City in 2009, Hall was an assistant city manager in Payson City and Draper City in Utah and also worked for local government in Henderson, NV.

“I feel extremely honored that City Council is considering me as their top candidate,” Hall said in a statement released by Imperial Beach. “In the course of researching the city and interacting with the elected officials during the selection process, I grew increasingly attracted to what Imperial Beach has accomplished and even more so to the exciting opportunities that await."
