Sweetwater Superintendent Ed Brand Again Cancels Community Meeting

Superintendent Ed Brand cancels another community meeting to discuss Mello Roos and district Open Boundaries – the second time in two weeks!!

Ed Brand has once again cancelled a community meeting to discuss Open Boundaries and his use of the Mello Roos tax in the district.

This is the second time in two weeks he has cancelled a community meeting he committed to have. He had cancelled last weeks meeting at the last minute because he became unhappy with the agenda and format he had agreed to days before.

The latest meeting was scheduled for Wednesday September 12th at 7pm at Eastlake High. He just cancelled this meeting because he was concerned that one of the organizing parents might be involved with .

In an email to one of the organizers of the meetings he wrote "I learn today Sept 5 that you and Mrs.--- are circulating a no confidence petition regarding my leadership. Seeing that your mind is made up, please refer all parent issues to my office and I will meet with them on an individual basis... No meeting will take place on the 12th of Sept."

Why is Ed Brand deciding to cancel a meeting with the entire community because one or two parents might be opposed to him and his decisions? Why does he not want to meet in public to answer questions the community has regarding Mello Roos and Open Boundaries? Why is he not keeping his committment to the parents of this community to meet in a public forum?
