Imperial Beach Song Contest Deadline Extended

The deadline for the contest which challenges local musicians to make a song about Imperial Beach has been extended to Feb. 3. Auditions will be held in February to determine who will perform the song.

Songwriters have until Feb. 3 to enter their song in a contest to win a session in the Imperial Beach Sports Park and Recreation Center's recording studio with local musicians.

Sponsored by the South County Renaissance Project, the contest challenges local musicians to come up with a song they feel represents Imperial Beach.

Songs entered in the contest will be judged on melody, song structure, originality and lyrics, not production quality or vocals.

The competition was created to help raise awareness about the creative services provided at the Sports Park and Recreation Center in support of youth participation in the arts and to showcase the musical talent of the region.

So here's the revised timeline.

I will be working a bit more closely with the Sweetwater Performing art folks in reintroducing this and some social media options as it’s vital that this initiative provides options for area youths to get involved.

Finally I’m in town and off all next week if you like to go out for coffee.(My treat).

Let me know and thanks for all your support.
