Get Out Planner: Powwow, Fun Runs, Hot Dog Eating Contest and More

Your Patch guide to happiness and events in IB and beyond this weekend through June 22.

Sure, you've been living life like it's summer since Memorial Day, but Tuesday it becomes official. It's the longest day of the year – sunset isn't until 8 p.m. – so what are you going to do this weekend to celebrate?

In Imperial Beach, San Diego and beyond from June 16 to June 22, there's plenty happening, from a chance to take in the full sweep of beach along the Silver Strand to a celebration of the community's links to Native American culture.

And don't get so caught up in the glorious, seemingly never-ending daylight that you forget dear ol' dad. Look for restaurants, stores and museums to offer free or reduced admission and other special events, like one at Tidelands Park, to celebrate Father's Day.
